The All-New 2026 Bailey Endurance E65

The all-new Bailey Endurance E65 promises to be an adventure-ready campervan, and I joined the team for it’s initial test in Bardenas Reales, Spain.
Thanks to an array of ‘off-grid’ kit and chunky, off-road styling, it looked at home on the French autoroutes, but especially in the semi-desert of Bardenas, which has served as a movie backdrop many times over the years. With an OTR price of £69,999 (including first registration, number plates, etc.) and full factory backing, it positions itself as a premium, well-engineered vehicle rather than a barebones conversion.
At 5.98 m (19′7″) in length, it’s compact enough to remain agile yet generous enough internally to feel full-sized. The styling is subtler than some overland van conversion clones, but it has layers in rugged touches, such as the Grey Matter cab, skid plates, and accent graphics.
Bailey Endurance specification:
Here is a snapshot of the confirmed technical spec:
| Spec | Value |
| Base vehicle | Ford Transit (Grey Matter, “Trail” variant) |
| Engine size | 2.0 L / 1,995 cc, 165 bhp |
| Transmission | 6-speed manual as standard, with an optional 8-speed automatic. |
| Overall length | 5.980 m / 19′7″ |
| Width (mirrors folded) | 2.086 m |
| Width (mirrors extended) | 2.489 m |
| Height | 2.800 m (or taller with Bailey’s Adventure Pack) |
| MTPLM | 3,500 kg |
| MRO (unladen + essential habitation kit) | 2,813 kg |
| Payload (user) | 687 kg |
| Thermal classification | Grade III (EN 1646-1) for 4-season touring |
One particularly positive note: the payload of 687 kg is pretty generous for a van of this size, especially given the ambitious kit included. That leaves room for occupants, water, food, gear, and extras without exceeding the weight budget.
Layout, Living & Comfort
Interior & Flow
- The E65 features a front dinette/lounge with four designated travel seats (including ISOFIX). This provides flexibility, offering daytime seating, dining, conversation, or workspace modes.
- The rear double bed is a fold-away transverse unit, measuring 1.970 × 1.390 m (6′6″ x 4′7″) at its widest point.
- When raised, the bed gives under-bed storage with floor lashing rings and ‘garage’ capacity for larger items.
- The kitchen is fully equipped:
- Thetford 90 L compressor fridge with 6L freezer section
- 2-burner hob + sink + fold/tap arrangement with glass lids
- Drop-down worktop extension for extra workspace
- The washroom is space-saving but functional:
- Tambour (sliding) partition door
- Shower tray with drainage, curtain, riser bar
- Basin, mixer tap, under-counter storage
- The toilet is 12 V electric flush with a cassette
- Additional touches:
- Flush-fit double-glazed tinted windows with pleated flyscreens & blinds
- Mini / micro Heki rooflights, night blinds
- Furniture in Natural Oak / Lunar Grey / Moonstone finishes
- Ambient lighting, durable vinyl flooring, checker-plate in storage zones

Ford Cab & Driving Comfort
The Bailey Endurance E65 is based on the Ford Transit panel van and includes:
- Air conditioning, cruise control, electric windows
- 12″ touchscreen infotainment (DAB, Apple CarPlay / Android Auto, Bluetooth, USB)
- Rearview camera, front & rear parking sensors
- Adjustable captains’ seats with armrests and integrated head restraints
- Two USB + 12 V socket points in the cab
- FordPass Connect smartphone app support
Exterior touches include a Thule electric side step, LED awning light, and strong body details.

Off-Grid & Technical Systems
The Bailey design team have worked hard on its off-grid capability. The following kit aims to keep you charged up and ready wherever you are:
Electrical & Solar
- Solar: The standard fit is a 130 W Truma lightweight flexible solar panel.
- Battery: Two 80 Ah AGM leisure batteries (2 × 80 Ah).
- Charge control/charger: A 20 A switch-mode battery charger for 230 V hookup, plus a control unit for heating/hot-water.
- Sockets & points: 230V interior sockets, USB ports, and USB-C ports. Ambient/task lighting.
Heating, Plumbing & Water
- Heating & Hot Water: The standard system is Truma Diesel Combi D4E, which handles both space heating and hot water.
- Control: Digital panel with fan and water boost modes.
- Gas: Provision for one 6 kg gas bottle (butane/propane) with regulator.
- Water tanks: 100 L of fresh water (external) and 58 L of waste water.
- Exterior kit: Cold water shower outlet in the garage area, external BBQ gas point.

Safety, security & compliance
- ABS, ESP, TPMS (tyre pressure monitoring)
- Intelligent speed assist, lane assist, and autonomous emergency braking
- Twin airbags, remote central locking
- Smoke & carbon monoxide alarms
- Underslung spare wheel
- European Whole Vehicle Type Approval (VWTA) compliance
Optional & upgrade packages
Bailey provides several compelling factory and retailer upgrades to enhance adventurous capability:
- Automatic gearbox (8-speed): £1,850
- 16″ Swamper alloy wheels with aggressive tyres: £650
- Towbar (factory fit): £500
- Thule wind-out awning: £650
- Panoramic over-cab sunroof with cassette blind: £950
- Adventure Pack (this is the real off-grid booster): includes Rhino roof rack + ladder, extra roof-mounted off-road lighting, and 2 × 100 W solid Truma solar panels replacing the standard 130 W flexible solar option: £1250
- TentBox roof tent (only if Adventure Pack chosen) — gives extra sleeping capacity in a rooftop tent: £2790
- Retailer-fit options include microwave, carpet upgrade, and mobile Wi-Fi (Avtex system).
- Note: each optional extra adds weight and reduces payload, so buyers will need to balance features vs user flexibility.
The complete upgrade list can be found on the Bailey of Bristol website.

Driving, Handling & Usability
Having driven the Endurance E65 through parts of Spain, the driving experience is a great blend of van-handling familiarity with camper comforts. The 165 bhp engine gives decent power for motorway cruising, hills and heavier loads.
The cab ergonomics, infotainment suite, cameras, parking aids, and general fit-out make it usable as both a daily driver and a long-distance tourer.
Storage and design feel well thought-through. The under-bed ‘garage’ area, lashing rings, external access, and robust cabinetry all support a user who wants to carry real gear (bikes, boards, outdoor equipment).
The Roam Home Verdict
The Bailey Endurance E65 is a seriously credible, factory-engineered adventure campervan that sits alongside the Bailey Endeavour range. It doesn’t rely on bolted-on upgrades or DIY modifications to deliver, and that consistency matters for long-term reliability and usability.
The standard kit provides off-grid support, but with sensible optional upgrades (Adventure Pack, extra panels), the van can easily cope with longer, stronger, and more remote use. The fact that the payload is solid gives owners breathing room for those upgrades without sacrificing too much daily livability.
For buyers seeking a factory-supported balance — including comfortable interiors, a strong build, integrated systems, and genuine off-grid capability — the Endurance E65 is one of the more comprehensive packages available now. It may not be a hardcore expedition van out of the box, but it is well-positioned to evolve into one.
